The international tournament “A Goal for Peace” brought together young talents from nine countries in Guatemala, celebrating unity, culture, and sports as tools for social transformation. This tournament, organized by Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) as part of its 70th anniversary, aims at athletic competition and fosters values such as teamwork, leadership, and peace.
The event returned after a 10-year hiatus, with teams from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua participating. Over an intense week of activities, the teams showcased their talent on the field. They participated in cultural and educational experiences, including a moving Cultural Night where they shared dances, music, and crafts representing their countries.
Marcet’s commitment to football development and youth empowerment was reflected in its tournament sponsorship, which awarded three training scholarships in Barcelona. These scholarships will allow the selected young athletes to experience unique, comprehensive learning at Marcet’s high-performance center, enhancing their athletic and personal development.
In the thrilling final match, the Honduran team was crowned champion after defeating Guatemala with a last-minute goal, while El Salvador secured third place by beating Mexico. Beyond the results, the tournament showcased the power of sports to unite cultures and inspire hope in future generations.
Marcet is proud to have been part of this event, reaffirming its mission to transform lives through football and education. “A Goal for Peace” not only celebrated athletic excellence but also highlighted the potential of young people to be agents of change in their communities.
