The director of the Professional Programme (MPEP) rewards the centennial clubs before the crowded auditorium of CaixaForum.
Every year, the elite of Catalan sport have been summoned to Barcelona to celebrate a great day for them, in which awards are given to the most outstanding people and institutions in this field. In its 21st edition, La Festa de l’Esport Català, has counted on the Marcet Foundation’s collaboration, acknowledging it for it’s work and contribution to football in the last decades.
This initiative, organised by the Unión de Federacions Esportives de Catalunya (UFEC) and the newspaper diario ‘Sport’, have awarded Ona Carbonell and Marc Márquez as Catalonia’s best sports persons of 2017. The olympic swimmer and the MotoGP pilot were given the gala’s utmost distinctions before the crowded CaixaForumauditorium.
Carolina Marcet, director of the Professional Programme (MPEP) at our football academy, was in charge of handing over the awards to the centenary sports entities of Catalonia:Junior Fútbol Club, Club Tenis Girona and Agrupació Ciclista Montjuïc.
The Marcet Foundation participated in the gala as a collaborating institution, alongside large names such as Coca-Cola, Estrella Damm, Munich and Aon. The event’s turnout included a wide range of Catalonian personalities, politicians, journalists, businesses…
Apart from the aforementioned awards, Gerard López (Barça B) was awarded best manager of the year. An emotional tribute to Pompeu Fabra, founder of the UFEC in 1993, also took place followed by the words of Gerard Esteva, the current president of the association. The famous linguist always considered sports as “a sector that can reach all corners”. A philosophy that the Marcet Foundation has been putting into practice for 40 years, offering opportunities for personal and social development through football.
