High Performance (14-21 years)

Students aged 14 and above follow a program oriented towards professional football and are individually summoned to assess their personalized progress. “It’s an opportunity to learn new things,” explains goalkeeper Alfonso Aragón, who recently enrolled in a High-Performance course. “Here you see football in a different way. It’s an experience that opens your mind, and ultimately that is the most important. The course pace is almost professional, and there are activities throughout the day: technical-tactical training, physical sessions, on the beach, in the pool, sports psychology…”

Alfonso took the course as an opportunity to return to work with his team, SD Huesca, in top form. Others, like American forward Antonio Puerta, come to Barcelona to enjoy a formative experience they cannot have in their home countries: “Every year I come back because when I leave, I am a better player than when I arrived. It’s tough and fun at the same time.”

There are also students who possess the qualities of both Alfonso and Antonio. Maël Caisson is one such case, having spent his entire life in the ranks of a prestigious club like AS Monaco FC. For him, Marcet Academy courses are a fundamental resource on the path to football excellence. “My teammates prefer to rest during vacations, but I am ambitious and want to become a professional. I came to this Summer camp because there’s nothing like it in France. I found many camps offering 10 or 15 hours of football per week. But here they guarantee me 40 hours.”

“I expected intense training, but what I have seen has exceeded my expectations,” comments Ernest Addi, who brought his son to Barcelona to determine if he truly had the requirements to reach professional football. He decided to accompany him and cross the ocean with him: “I wanted to see it with my own eyes. I wanted to see if I liked it or not. If it was good for him or not. And what I have seen, I liked.”

High Specialization (6-13 years)

The goal of the Marcet Football University’s High Specialization courses is for students to understand the concepts of collective technique, assimilate tactical movements in game development, and automate elements of individual technique. This enables them to improve game vision, think quickly, and make good decisions.

The main technical learning objectives of this camp include improvement in the following aspects of the game: control, dribbling, passing, dribbling, and shooting (also with the non-dominant foot), as well as heading, offensive techniques, defensive techniques, and intelligence in football.

But the evolution experienced by students during the camp goes beyond the sport

ing aspect. “You start looking for football, but once you’re here, you find something more,” explains Pablo Álvarez Pincay, who has been bringing his children to Marcet intensives for years. “Here, they have learned to live together and have matured from every perspective. It’s a very enriching experience,” he comments in this video, where he engages in a dialogue with another parent:

Rubén Martí knows what these parents are talking about. He has been with Marcet for over 20 years and is now the coordinator of High Specialization football courses. In the following video, he narrates his day-to-day during a camp and emphasizes the importance of values in shaping not only footballers but also individuals:

“When you’re working with so many people, there are many fronts to cover: attending to family members, dealing with specific problems from the kids, coaches, and teams coming to participate in our tournaments… Personal satisfaction is seeing that all the inconveniences are being solved, and the kids are leaving happy. Then you feel that the work you’ve done was worth it.”

From the students’ perspective, there isn’t a single way to experience the intensive courses. Each player has their priorities and personal goals. Like Adrían Melero, Pablo Melero, and Jaime Barral, three Real Madrid CF benjamins who attended the Marcet Summer camp to “improve technically” and “learn to make long passes” for their imminent debut in Football 11. And also to maintain the level required by a club like Real Madrid during the holidays.

LEVEL OF DEMAND

It is crucial not to confuse Marcet High Specialization and High Performance courses with holiday camps in Spain or other countries that aim solely to entertain children during their vacations. These are courses with no defined pedagogical method and often only use the shield and name of a big club as a marketing reference. In these camps, young people might – with luck – take photos with some famous players, visit iconic stadiums, stroll through beautiful cities, but in no way will they learn football or progress in individual technique, tactics, and certainly not in collective concepts. Therefore, it is essential for both parents and players to be aware that the intensity and physical and mental demands of Marcet courses are very high.

This doesn’t mean that Marcet students don’t have fun learning. Every day, they experience and assimilate a wealth of concepts, skills, and techniques fully aware of their progression. Despite the hard work throughout the day, they are eager for the next day because they know that every minute that passes, they are improving as footballers and as individuals. This is the secret that allows dozens of Marcet students to join the ranks of 1st division clubs in Spain or Europe every year.

ORGANIZATIONAL DETAILS

On the first day, students must arrive in the morning for the presentation of the technical team and the formation of initial groups. Then, a series of tests will be conducted to assess the exact level of each player and place them in the most suitable group during the course. The teacher uses this initial test to identify the areas where they need to focus more.

On the first day, the official pack with training shirt, casual shirt, shorts, and socks is handed to the student. Each player must bring their own boots, possibly multi-studded, as all fields are of the latest generation artificial turf. It’s better not to break in new boots during the course because new ones tend to cause blisters. After completing the course, the Marcet coaching staff will provide personalized evaluations to all students to determine their future possibilities.

RESIDENCE

The residence service – with 24/7 supervision – is optional for players who do not live in Barcelona. Students in this regimen receive an extra uniform and enjoy a series of leisure activities outside of training hours, such as karting, laser tag, or tourist excursions. Standard accommodation is in rooms for a minimum of four people. Depending on availability and the influx of students, the offer may be adapted to multiple rooms with bunk beds prepared for eight or more players. However, if a family wants their child to reside in Superior Category accommodation (rooms for two or three students), they can hire the service with an additional daily supplement on the residence course price (limited offer). An optional pick-up and drop-off service is also available at the airport, train station, or bus stations for students traveling alone. It is a personalized accompaniment provided by a Marcet representative. In case additional nights of stay are needed – both before the start of the course and at the end – to align with flight or train dates and times, extra nights in the residence can be contracted.
GUARANTEED INVESTMENT

At Marcet we want to make sure that your investment is not affected by any circumstance. That is why this service includes a distance training plan (different depending on the contracted course) that will be launched in the event that you cannot attend the course for whatever reason.

On the other hand, you will always have the possibility to search for other dates on which to enjoy our services. Finally, the price includes an external insurance with whom we will put you in contact in case you require it.

GUARANTEED TRAINING CONTINUITY

Once the face-to-face campus is over, Marcet offers its students the possibility of continuing with their training process thanks to the Illuminator Program (Pack 1). All the players who participate in the High Technification and High Performance courses will be able to continue learning for free and from home thanks to this program, which is developed through a constant exchange of information between the student and the Coach Mentor. On the one hand, the player He sends recordings of the training sessions and/or matches he does with his club, or also of training sessions at home, in the park, in a garden, against a wall, alone, with friends or family… On the other hand, the Coach Mentor analyzes the material and establishes constant communication with the student via WhatsApp and Skype, with the aim of correcting their mistakes, resolving their doubts, assigning them new objectives and, ultimately, guiding them in a learning process that becomes more and more autonomous over time.
