More Information

“I knew it was going to be tough because it was two weeks of intensive training, but I enjoyed it and didn’t want it to end,” comments Mexican midfielder Sofía Fernández in the following video. Every day I saw myself improving a little, and that gave me a lot of excitement. Above all, I learned to identify what happens on the field, to analyze the situation, the play, the game. I have opened my mind.”

Girls aged 14 and older follow a program oriented towards professional soccer and are individually called to check their progress in a personalized way. Ana Luzardo knows this well; she has soccer in her blood and wanted to take advantage of the summer to improve technically and tactically. “I looked for a camp exclusively for girls with my mother, and Marcet was the only option for High Performance I found in Spain,” says the Canary defender, who trained for two weeks in Barcelona along with 17 other girls.

“My goal was to learn, improve, and enjoy… And that’s what I did,” she recalls. “The relationship with coaches and teammates was incredible… Also, we talked to a nutritionist, a sports psychologist, experts in new technologies applied to soccer… I didn’t expect all this. It was a very professional experience.”

“This intensive course is 100% for girls, from the first morning training to the last one in the afternoon,” explains Joan Torres, coordinator of women’s soccer at the Marcet Academy. “Our goal is to provide soccer players with an environment in which they feel very comfortable and at ease. Women’s soccer has grown a lot in recent years, we have to keep promoting it. The time for girls has finally come!”

Fernanda Rodríguez agrees; she came from Mexico to train “at another level” in Barcelona. “In my country, women’s soccer is not supported much. There aren’t such exclusive options for women, and if you want to play at a good level, you have to do it in mixed teams. That’s why I was very excited when I discovered that I could participate in this camp.”

LEVEL OF DEMAND

It is very important not to confuse Marcet’s High Performance courses with summer camps held in Spain or other countries solely for the purpose of entertaining children during their vacations. These are courses that do not have a defined pedagogical method and often rely solely on the shield and name of a big club as their marketing reference. In these camps, young people may – if lucky – take pictures with a famous player, visit legendary stadiums, stroll through beautiful cities, but they will not learn football or progress in individual technique and tactics, let alone in collective concepts. Therefore, it is very important for both parents and players to be aware that the intensity and mental and physical demands of Marcet courses are very high.</p

This doesn’t mean that Marcet students don’t have fun while learning. Every day they experience and assimilate a large number of concepts, skills, and techniques fully aware of their progression. Despite the hard work throughout the day, they are looking forward to the next day because they know that every minute they are improving as footballers and as individuals. This is the secret thanks to which dozens of Marcet students join the ranks of 1st division clubs in Spain or Europe every year.

ORGANIZATIONAL DETAILS

On the first day, students must arrive in the morning for the presentation of the coaching staff and the formation of the initial groups. Then, a series of tests will be carried out to assess the exact level of each player and place her in the most suitable group during the course. The coach takes advantage of this initial test to identify areas where he needs to focus more.

On the first day, each student will receive the official pack with training shirt, leisure shirt, shorts, and socks. Each player should bring her own boots, possibly multi-studded, as all fields are of the latest generation artificial turf. It is better not to break in new boots during the course, as new ones tend to cause blisters. After completing the course, the Marcet coaching staff will provide all students with personalized evaluations to determine the future possibilities of each player.

RESIDENCE

The residence service – with 24-hour supervision, 7 days a week – is optional for players who do not live in Barcelona. Students in this regime receive an extra uniform and enjoy a series of leisure activities outside of training hours, such as go-karting, laser tag, or tourist excursions. Standard accommodation is in rooms for a minimum of four people. Depending on availability and the influx of students, the offer will be adapted to multiple rooms with bunk beds prepared for eight or more players. However, if any family wants their daughter to reside in Superior Category accommodation (rooms for two or three students), they can hire the service with a daily supplement on the price of the course with residence (limited offer). An optional service is also available for pick-up and drop-off at the airport, train station, or bus stations for those students traveling alone. It is personalized accompaniment carried out by a responsible Marcet staff member. If extra nights of stay are needed – both before the start of the course and at the end – to match flight or train dates and times, it is possible to contract extra nights at the residence.

GUARANTEED INVESTMENT

At Marcet, we want to ensure that your investment is not affected by any circumstance. That’s why this service includes a distance learning plan (different depending on the contracted course) that will be implemented in case the student cannot attend the course for any reason.

Furthermore, you will always have the possibility to look for other dates to enjoy our services. Finally, the price includes an external insurance company with whom we will put you in contact if necessary.

GUARANTEED CONTINUING EDUCATION

Once the summer face-to-face camp is over, Marcet offers its students the possibility to continue their educational process thanks to the Illuminator Program (Pack 1). All players participating in High Technology and High Performance courses can continue learning for free and from their homes thanks to this program, which is developed through constant exchange of information between the student and the Coach Mentor. On the one hand, the player sends recordings of the training sessions and/or matches she does with her club, or also of home workouts, in the park, in a garden, with a wall, alone, with friends or family… On the other hand, the Coach Mentor analyzes the material and establishes constant communication with the student via WhatsApp and/or Skype, with the aim of correcting her mistakes, resolving her doubts, assigning her new objectives, and ultimately guiding her in a learning process that over time becomes increasingly autonomous.
