Growing with Every Step

José “Pepe” Mullor, who began his football journey playing futsal with his school friends, quickly demonstrated his passion for the sport. “Starting out playing with my friends is what opened the doors to football for me,” recalls José, who was scouted by Escolta Barça, where he took the first serious step in his football career.
Since then, his love for the game has guided his path, allowing him to experience some of the most significant moments of his life. Joining Marcet Academy was a turning point for José, both in his athletic and personal development. “It changed my life; I began to progress physically, mentally, and technically,” the player highlights. One of his most meaningful memories was facing Real Madrid, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. “It was an unforgettable experience that I will always remember,” he says, showing that his time at Marcet was crucial to his growth as a footballer.
After his time at Marcet, Mullor secured a sports scholarship to study and play football in the United States. He is currently part of the Morningside Mustangs team, competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
“Pepe is a left-back with strong defensive skills and the drive to create opportunities on the offensive half, thanks to his distribution and vision. We’re excited to have him here this fall,” said David Maxon, coach of the Mustangs, upon signing him in March 2023. While “Pepe” loves the sport, he sees his future off the field and focuses on his studies. “At the moment, I don’t have expectations in football, as I will most likely close my football career,” he shares candidly. However, when asked about his strengths on the field, he acknowledges, “Ball distribution and defensive duels, both aerial and on the ground, have always been my strengths.”
Looking ahead for five years, José envisions himself outside of Spain, traveling and gaining new life experiences and future business experiences. “I dream of never feeling the regret of not trying something I would have liked to do or live,” he expresses with conviction. This mindset reflects his desire for continuous growth in sports and other areas of his life.
