Far-reaching midfielder
{mb_sdlf_jugador_SDLF-jugador_frase-destacada}Marco Barrero signs for Rayo Vallecano after a brilliant season with Trival Valderas.
The 2018-19 season was key for Marco Barrero. Trival Valderas’ defensive midfielder had to make a difficult decision regarding his future. “At the beginning of the season, one of Getafe’s coaches called my father to say they had seen me play against Móstoles and that they wanted me to sign for them the following season. However, a little after I also received a call from Rayo Vallecano, the club I eventually signed for.”
What happened between one call and the other? “I had to play a league game against Rayo and I ended up scoring 3 goals during the match,” explains Marco, originally from Madrid. “The coach of the Vallecano club, who also collaborates with Marcet, saw my performance and told me he was going to send a report to the team so they would sign me. So I finally signed for Rayo because I had already met the trainer and knew his way of working.”
“This season they moved my position more to the front and I scored nine goals in the Honor Division”
A hat-trick from a defensive midfielder never goes unnoticed. Especially since Marco has always played as anchor-man. “I usually stay back but this year they moved my position more to the front for the first time and I scored nine goals in the Honor Division.”
It was the Marcet technicians who advised him to join Trival Valderas. “I’ve spent years doing intensive and yearly courses in Madrid and so they told me I had to move another step up the ladder in my sporting career.” And Trival Valderas was just the showroom Marco needed to reach an elite team.
“At Marcet I learned so many things, especially to do with my individual technique,” remembers the midfielder. “When I began with the U-12’s I started taking part in the Academies’ World Cup of Football, in Barcelona. Then, last summer I went on to do the High Performance Courses which have a more professional outlook. This year I also came to do a pre-season so that I can be in top shape for August 19th, when I’ll start with Rayo’s U-16 A team. I can’t wait for that day to arrive.”
