Implementing the use of New Technologies in football training has been one of Marcet‘s major ventures for years. Using state-of-the-art equipment in training sessions is a fundamental requirement when it comes to learning football intelligently. More and more of the intensive course students choose to receive specific New Technologies updates during their stay in Barcelona. These are personalized training programs, in which the teacher and trainer ‘feedback’ is constant. The Department of New Technologies is responsible for recording each session to then putting together reports that are then delivered to the student after their practice. The Free-Kick Instant Analysis is one of the exercises involved. A tablet linked to a smart ball records data concerning the shooter’s performance, such as shot trajectory, force of impact, speed and rotation. With this data, teachers can instantly comment on the player’s strengths and weaknesses brought to light by the collected data. The player in question can check up on the results and analysis whilst s/he carries out the exercise.Once the session has come to an end, a final report is prepared by the Department of New Technologies detailing the necessary improvements and corrections for the student to continue progressing. To obtain even more information, GPS sensors are used to collect data such as kilometers traveled, maximum speed reached, number of sprints performed and areas of the field most frequently moved in.The data is then analyzed with an application that accounts for the volume and intensity of work done on the pitch: number of physical exertions, energy expenditure, calorie map of field areas with the most traffic…Another part of the New Technologies session includes the use of strobe glasses that block the player’s vision intermittently during practice.Depriving the trainee of their ability to see for a fraction of a second forces their brain to register more information in less time. This way the player is trained to anticipate actions during a game and react quicker.Strobe Training is essentially a process of logical deduction that eventually works intuitively and automatically.Analysts sit down with each student to discuss how the session is going. Dealing with questions and issues related to the exercises that have just been carried out is key to short term performance enhancementBefore finishing the New Technologies sessions, students also pass through the Reaction Goals, small goals with LED posts. Before getting started with the ball, the analysts explain what the players are to do when the goals light up. The image shows the coach with a remote that controls the lights. Thanks to this simple resource and the possibility of using different colors, the final objective is unknown to the trainee until the trainer considers it appropriate, in such a way that the footballer is obliged to be aware of all possible options before shooting. This is the definitive version of the training for real game situations, where the player has considered all possible variables before making a decision. The final report delivered to the students also includes recommendations on how to improve in this aspect so fundamental to today’s football. At the end of the session, the boys pose for a photo with their trainers for a picture that’ll remind them of that time at Marcet when they learned to play intelligent football with New Technologies.
