{mb_sdlf_jugador_SDLF-jugador_frase-destacada}Oriol Rey Erenas, who developed at the Marcet Academy and went through the youth systems of Barcelona and Leeds, has solidified his presence in Levante’s midfield.
Born in Barcelona, left-footed defensive midfielder Oriol Rey began training in FC Barcelona‘s youth system in 2008 at 10. During the summer breaks at the Catalan club, he joined the Intensive Courses at the Marcet Academy to further his development. In 2017, after 9 years in the Barcelona youth academy, he left the club to begin his professional career at various clubs in Spain and England, up to his present position at Levante.
Barcelona, Marcet, Leeds (England), and UB Conquense (Spanish third division) were the institutions that played a part in his football and personal development until his next step at Real Valladolid, where he would make his professional debut in January 2021, at the age of 22 years and 339 days, in a league match against Huesca.
He later moved to CD Mirandés, where he solidified his position and gained experience. After more than 70 matches, he joined Valladolid, becoming a key player in Levante’s midfield. So much so that, after a long wait, he scored his first goal during an away victory against Alcorcón in Liga 2.
“I am happy, especially for helping the team and earning the three points. I saw it falling there and thought, ‘I have to put this one in,’” sincere Oriol expressed, who had only scored two goals before his professional football debut: with UB Conquense against Valencia Mestalla and with Valladolid Promesas away at Bilbao Athletic.
Thus, the midfielder, who can also play as a central defender, has had a significant impact since arriving as a free agent in the summer of 2023. Filling in for Pepelu, who moved to Valencia, he, as a midfield leader, aspires to continue growing as a footballer, mirroring his journey since his early days in Barcelona.
