Pedro Soma, a talented Brazilian-American, who has achieved great accomplishments at a young age.
Pedro, who plays as a central midfielder/pivot, describes himself as “a technical player” who is very calm on the ball. “I’m ambidextrous; I have vision and ability with long and short passes. One of my strengths is aerial play,” he assures.
His journey in football began at a very young age, when he was just 18 months old, at a Brazilian church in the United States. Since then, his passion for the sport has only grown. After playing at local clubs until he was 12, Pedro arrived at Marcet Academy in 2018 to participate in a summer camp. His experience was so satisfactory that, months later, he returned to be part of the “Student Exchange Program” and played two full seasons, 2018/19 and 2019/20, in the youth categories.

Regarding his time at Marcet Football University, the footballer comments: “Of course, I’ve evolved there. The excellent coaches and intensive training helped me progress in my career. I learned the importance of dedication, perseverance, and respect,” Pedro affirms.
In addition to memories of training and matches, Pedro treasures memorable moments off the field: “I have memories of all my teammates, not only on the field but also off it. I remember the tournaments, movie nights, living with friends, shopping trips, etc. Undoubtedly, the best memory was winning the League in 2019!”

Following his time at Marcet, Pedro continued his development at Cornellà, an excellent club for a young player to progress. “When they called me, I didn’t take long to say yes. I’m very proud to be able to play for Cornellà, and I’m very grateful for my time at that club.”
In his own words: “I’ve played four seasons at Cornellà. Each season, I’ve improved and moved up categories. In my first two years, I played for Cadet B and Cadet A; in my third year, I played for Juvenil C, B, and A; and in my fourth season, I was a player for the first team. I feel thrilled to have climbed through all the club’s teams until I could play with Cornellà in the 1a RFEF.”

After four seasons at Cornellà, in 2024 FC Barcelona took notice and brought him into their second team. At just 18 years old, Pedro joined Barça Atlètic on loan, with Cornellà granting the club a purchase option for his federative rights at the end of the season. However, the achievements of the Marcet Football University graduate go beyond the club level. Pedro quickly became a regular in the United States youth national teams, most recently the U-19 squad. Earlier, in 2023, he had the honor of captaining the U-17 team at the World Cup.
“My goal is to reach the senior squad as soon as possible. But I also hope to keep growing with a world-renowned club, where I can show my best self,” said the midfielder just weeks before arriving at Barça. It seems fate was listening.
