Marcet Soccer Camps

More and more countries are experimenting with the Marcet Academy’s methodology and it’s all thanks to our Football Camps.

United States, Peru, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Morocco, Ecuador, Honduras… More and more countries are hungry for football. And, when it comes to training, they all know that there isn’t room for compromise. That’s why they host the Marcet Soccer Camps (MSC), intensive one to two week courses with the purpose of bringing the academy’s methodology to those who simply can’t travel to all the way to Spain.

“When I heard about this event, I didn’t hesitate a second,” recalls Derick Keizer, who signed up for the MSC in Mexico City. “During that week of training I gave it my all, because I wanted to earn the sports scholarship for the most outstanding players on campus. After the last match on the last day, the technicians declared the winners. I was one of them, and it felt great, “recalls the Mexican left-back, who two months after taking part in that campus was able to travel to Europe precisely due to the scholarship he achieved.

With or without a scholarship, there are many players who decide to train in Barcelona after trying the Marcet Methodology in one of these Camps. This is the case of Joseph Masaid, who took part in a US MSC and was amazed by what he saw. “I liked the experience. In my country the coaches are concerned with you understanding how the game works, but at Marcet it’s completely different, because everything is focused on raising the bar personally as a player. They take evaluation very seriously. They record everything and there are analysts who meet with you to establish personal goals and follow your progress step by step.”

Joseph was also delighted with the use of New Technologies applied to football. LED goals, strobes, smart balls… “I’d never seen anything like it before. We weren’t even finished with the first training session and I already knew that what I wanted was to go to Barcelona and work on my football properly.”

“To be able to appreciate a real evolution in one or two weeks it’s fundamental for the students to be motivated to be able to obtain real results”, explains Franco Sanchírico, responsible for these expeditions. “During a Marcet Soccer Camp you always notice a big jump in quality. We’re used to seeing parents surprised by the speed at which their children evolve in such a short time, incorporating new tactical concepts and improving their decision-making on the pitch.”

There’s usually a high expectation in the countries we travel to, but we always leave feeling good about the work we do,” says Sanchírico. “What happens is that students always want more. That’s why we grant scholarships to those who stand out the most, so that they can have the opportunity of training in Barcelona. That’s why, as soon as we make it back from abroad, we’re already working on organizing the next Marcet Soccer Camp.”
