After being called up by his country’s U-16s squad, the former Marcet player has signed his first professional contract with the club dominating Belgian football.

When Vladi started playing for KAA Gante he knew he had an opportunity of a lifetime. Getting into the club that’s dominating Belgian football can open the doors to professional football. “I knew it wasn’t going to be easy so I got myself extra motivated.”, recalls the sixteen year old centre midfielder, who didn’t take long to find his place in the team. They’ve now given him his first professional contract at Gante, where they’ve selected him for a group of special young talented players.

“When I got the news about them signing me, first of all I was delighted and at the same time I felt extra motivated to work even harder and reach a higher place”, Vladi Van de Wiel tells us, ex-player here at Marcet and one of the most promising players in Belgium. Now the young player, also a regular in his national side’s U-16s, is training with an elite group of players between the ages of 15-17.

Question.- What are your expectations for the future?

Answer.- My main objective is to get into the first team at Gante. Then further into the future I’d like to branch out and continue my career at another European club in Spain or Germany.

Q.- Is football in Belgium different to what’s played in Spain?

A.- I learnt everything in Spain, where the best football on the planet is played. Here in Belgium it’s a lot more physical, whereas in Spain it’s a lot more tactical and technical.

Q.- To be specific, what did you learn at Fundación Marcet?

A.- Amongst others, one of the first things I learnt was to play with my left foot properly. I also got taught how to be a respectful player, respectful to my coaches and my teammates. Marcet helped me so much, for that reason it’s my favourite football academy.

Q.- What are your best attributes as a player?

A.- As a defensive midfielder, one of the most important things for me is to recover the ball. Also another trait of mine is I know how to play it simple. A lot of people don’t realise, but one most the difficult aspects of football is playing it simple. Those who know football can see it.

And for those who know about football would have also seen Vladi first goal with his national side:
