Carlos Lozano came to Marcet as a coach and his talent took him to RCD Espanyol and then to the Chinese Super League as a physiotherapist.

Carlos Lozano knows perfectly well how to take full advantage of the opportunities that life hands to him. This is the only way of becoming one of the most sought after physiotherapists in the world at a top division club. His passion for his work and desire to exceed has taken him to China, where he has shared dressing rooms with high calibre footballers like Carlos Tévez and Freddy Guarín. A side note of high professional value for an exemplary career.

“I started as a coach at Marcet when I was 17”, recalls Lozano. “After, When I finished my undergraduate’s degree, I was offered an opportunity to train at grassroots level with RCD Espanyol. From there I moved up the categories until I reached my current position, working with the first team as a physiotherapist.”

A combination of passion and education is what has helped guide Lozano to achieve his goals. And also to create more opportunities to develop professionally and personally, as seen in his venture to China. “Shanghai Greenland Shenua were interested in my ability, so they got in touch with me and everything happened so quickly. It’s a historical club, currently managed by Gustavo Poyet and has players that have played at some of the best clubs in the world”.

An experience that lasted seven months but ended due to family reasons. “I was really happy to get the chance to live there, but Chinese culture is very different to Europe. Although the most difficult part of the whole experience was being away from family and friends. Football in China is growing a lot recently, but it still has a long way to go. There’s groundwork that is still not in place, and I think that it would be great for them to come to Europe in order to start developing it”.

When his venture to China ended, Lozano was welcomed back with open arms to Espanyol’s first team “Due to a clause in my contract, I can only work with Espanyol, but due to the connection and affection I have for Marcet, I’ve been allowed to advise and continue to help out with this service. With the objective of it growing in the next few years”. Thanks to this contribution, Marcet is able to provide a state of the art physiotherapy service. “There isn’t much difference between treating a professional footballer and one of the kids from Marcet’s High Performance Academy. At the end of the day we’re treating people, and that treatment is exactly the same”.
